Advocate John Kelleher, President of The Law Society of Jersey, said: “The route to qualifying as a Jersey Advocate or Solicitor requires a considerable level of study and dedication and to achieve success is a great achievement.”
He went on to say that the celebration was the perfect occasion to reflect on the “effective collaboration between Jersey’s legal profession and the Institute of Law.”

He said: “15 new Advocates and Solicitors were sworn in during 2018, having successfully completed their studies through the Institute of Law. Student numbers on the Jersey Law Course remain at relatively high levels which augurs well for the future generation of lawyers who will serve the increasing legal needs of our Island.”
The prizes were presented by the Deputy Bailiff, Tim Le Cocq, in his capacity as President of the Board of Examiners.
The 2018 prizewinners were:
- Jersey Legal Systems and Constitutional Law – Lynne Gregory
- Law of Contract – Ellie Oury
- Law of Interests and Bankruptcy – Michael Evans
- Testate and Intestate Succession – Michael Evans
- Law of Immovable Property and Conveyancing – Simon Dinning
- Civil and Criminal Procedure – Rory Forrest
- Family Law – Allana Binnie.
