Despite “a challenging year for both islanders and retailers” in 2025, the CI Coop saw a rise in turnover and profit and welcomed thousands of new members.

Chief executive Mark Cox hailed the retailer’s “strengthened” performance as it announced its annual results for the 52 weeks ending 11 January 2026.

The stats at a glance:

  • Turnover increased by 4.35% to £220.4 million.
  • Trading profit also rose by 6.94% to £7.2 million.
  • Net surplus grew to £1 million.
  • A total of £10.5 million was returned directly to members through savings, dividends and interest, equivalent to 4.66 p per £1 spent.
  • Members’ funds stood at £133.2 million.
  • The Annual Members’ dividend was maintained at 2%
  • The retailer also welcomed 5,119 new members – with 22% under the age of 25 – bringing its total membership figure to 128,134.
  • It donated £305,000 to charities and community groups.
  • Its community fund saw £96,000 distributed to 88 beneficiaries.
  • Almost 125,000 food items were redistributed via the Olio app, equivalent to 89,869 meals.
  • £8.7 million was spent with local producers.
  • The retailer’s carbon footprint reduced by 6% year-on-year.
  • It sold 37,960 fewer carrier bags in comparison to 2024.
  • There were 1,168 people employed.
  • 201 employees volunteered 1,455 hours.
  • A 0% median gender hourly pay gap was achieved.

Additionally, work took place to enable the launch of the Coop Mobile service across both Jersey and Guernsey earlier this year.

Mr Cox acknowledged that it had been “a challenging year for both islanders and retailers”.

But he said that: “We have stayed focused on what matters most, delivering real value to our members.”

Mr Cox continued: “While cost of living pressures remain a challenge across both the islands, the society has taken deliberate action to support members through everyday pricing and targeted savings.

“We have strengthened our performance, invested in pricing, and ensured that more money goes back into members’ pockets every time they shop with us.”
