The Stirling Prize celebrates excellence among British architects and is awarded to the architects of the building which has made the greatest contribution to British architecture in the past year.
It is the highest honour in British Architecture, with previous winning buildings including The Gherkin, London and the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool.
Curated by RIBA President 2014-15, Stephen Hodder, the Stirling Award Day on September 18th will be a first for Jersey, including personal presentations from the architects shortlisted for the 2015 Stirling Award, a film screening about James Stirling, the pioneering and celebrated modern architect, and accompanying talk about the history of the Stirling Prize. This forms part of the JAB15 events, a weeklong showcase and celebration of architecture in Jersey between 14th and 18th September.
Derek Mason, President of The Association of Jersey Architects (AJA) said: “I would like to congratulate the architects announced on the Stirling shortlist today and I look forward to welcoming them to Jersey. This is an extremely significant moment for our island, as the Stirling Prize celebrates architects who are truly among the best in the world, and the delegation day presents a unique opportunity to hear them speak and discuss their projects. I’m delighted such an event is part of our Jersey Architecture Biennale event schedule, firmly putting Jersey at the heart of world-leading architecture.”
