Sure’s efforts to create a “stronger, more resilient network” have reached a key milestone as the transformation enters the migration phase.

The telecoms firm has sought to reassure customers that most of them will face “little or no disruption” during the works.

Running in phases through to 14 August, the migration programme is a key stage in Sure’s mobile network transformation – which is intended to bring about stronger mobile coverage, improved network performance, greater network capacity and the phased introduction of 5G later this year.

The first stage of the migration programme, set to take place between today and Monday, involves essential engineering works. The network migration will take place during the early hours of Monday to minimise disruption to customers.

“Most customers are expected to experience little or no disruption,” the telecoms firm stated.

“However, some customers may experience temporary interruptions to mobile services, including making and receiving calls, during the migration window. Emergency calls will not be affected.”

Although some customers may experience brief disruption during the migration, this investment is a vital step towards delivering a significantly better connected experience for years to come

Sure group CEO Alistair Beak

Sure group chief executive Alistair Beak added: “Our customers expect to stay connected wherever they are and whatever they’re doing – whether that’s working, learning, streaming or keeping in touch with family and friends.

“This programme is all about delivering that experience, creating a stronger, more resilient network that keeps pace with the way people live today and into the future.”

Mr Beak described the core migration as “a major milestone in our mobile network transformation”, adding that it “lays the foundations for the next generation of connectivity in Jersey”.

“While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it will enable stronger mobile coverage, improved network performance, greater network capacity and the phased introduction of 5G later this year,” he continued.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we complete this important stage of the programme.

“Although some customers may experience brief disruption during the migration, this investment is a vital step towards delivering a significantly better connected experience for years to come.”
