Mourant is looking for its next cohort of aspiring legal professionals for its 2026 Jersey Trainee Solicitor Programme.
Applications to the firm’s training programme are open until Friday 19 December.
The scheme offers a pathway to qualify as Solicitors in England and Wales, Jersey, or both jurisdictions, through a two/three-year placement.
Successful trainees will gain practical legal experience across various practice groups in Mourant’s Jersey office, with the chance to work on complex, high-profile matters.
The firm says all trainees will receive a “competitive reward package”, covering SQE preparation course costs, exam fees and paid study leave; and will also “benefit from high quality mentorship” throughout the period.
The Solicitors Qualifying Examination, introduced by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 2021, is designed to make qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales more accessible to individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
In 2024, the SQE replaced the Legal Practice Course as the main route to qualification.
Daniel Birtwistle, Managing Partner of the Mourant Jersey office, said: “This initiative offers a fabulous opportunity for aspiring solicitors to gain hands-on experience working on complex, high-profile matters, while receiving exceptional training and support.
“At Mourant, we believe in investing in people, and this programme is designed to provide a clear pathway to qualification and lay the foundations for a rewarding career in law.”
The application window for positions starting in September 2026 and 2027 closes on Friday 19 December 2025. Those interested should apply via Mourant’s website.
Eligible candidates must hold a degree or be graduating in 2026 or 2027 and have ‘Entitled’ or ‘Entitled for Work’ status in Jersey.
