The M&S clothes, home and beauty store in St Brelade will be “transformed” into a brand-new food hall, if plans are approved.
The proposed new “market-style” shop will span two floors and offer fresh produce and groceries, as well an in-store bakery and dedicated flower and wine shops, according to planning application submitted this week.
Under the plans, the company said the new renewal design would deliver a “transformed shopping experience” for customers from “eye-catching high-level graphics” to a collect by car service and an updated tilling system.
Other changes include brand-new flooring and the installation of energy-efficient refrigeration.
Work is set to begin in autumn, and the store will temporarily close ahead of the expected re-opening later this year.
If approve, the St Brelade branch will be Sandpiper’s fifth standalone M&S food store in the island.
A Sandpiper spokesperson said: “Assuming we receive the required planning authority to proceed, we look forward to welcoming customers to the new M&S St Brelade food hall soon and are confident it will be a fantastic addition to the parish.
“It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to bring M&S Food to even more customers in Jersey and the new store design would make shopping at St Brelade all that more enjoyable and convenient.”
