Suntera Global has appointed a new business development director as the financial services firm looks to further grow “opportunities” in the African market.

Originally from South Africa, Chad Phillips has close to 20 years of experience within offshore fiduciary and wealth management, spanning multiple jurisdictions.

He has most recently worked at a well-known banking institution in Jersey and is also a fully qualified trust and estate professional, having completed all Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) qualifications.

Mr Phillips is also a member of the Institute of Directors.

He will be working with colleagues across Suntera’s private wealth teams, supporting succession planning, asset protection and cross border structuring whilst also advising on the importance of generational wealth transfer, family governance and long-term preservation.

Announcing the appointment, the company said Mr Phillips will play “a crucial role in nurturing opportunities and growing Suntera’s private wealth offering in the African market”.

The chief executive of Suntera Global, David Hudson, said the firm had a “strong book of business” in the region, that had grown significantly in recent years “as more high-net-worth individuals and families seek jurisdictions able to offer a combination of stability, expertise and global reach to realise their international ambitions”.

Mr Hudson continued: “With his personal knowledge and deep understanding of the region, Chad is ideally placed to grow those opportunities further, in particular helping families with long-term wealth preservation and transferring generational wealth smoothly and effectively.

“I have no doubt he will be an asset to Suntera Global and wholeheartedly welcomed to the team.”
