The 45-minute service will fly on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays on 37-seat Embraer 135 jet.

Myra Shacklady, the Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey who is responsible for the company’s route development programme, welcomed the news of the route.

“Over the past 18 months we have worked closely with Loganair to establish further opportunities to operate to and from the island,” she explained. “The airline already operates a successful summer service between Jersey and Norwich and has already increased its capacity on this service due to passenger demand.

“The introduction of a Bournemouth service, provides an additional route to our already extensive UK route network, giving both residents and visitors an alternative travel option from the south coast”.

Keith Beecham, CEO for Visit Jersey, added: “Last year over 430,000 holiday makers came to Jersey. Visit Jersey is delighted that in 2019 Jersey and Bournemouth will be linked by Loganair supported by Ports of Jersey. Tourism benefits the whole economy and it’s great to see Loganair helping us Help the World Fall in Love with Jersey.”

Loganair also announced plans to operate a weekly service on a Saturday between Bournemouth and Guernsey in summer 2019.
