Since launch in January 2014 Bailiwick Express has built a very strong local following for its mix of daily news, classifieds, notices and events listings, which so far, have only featured Jersey information.

Within the next few months, Bailiwick Express will be launching a Guernsey version of the site too, written by local journalists, and employing a full Guernsey team (for applications, please e-mail us)

Local investor John Davey has seen the success of Bailiwick Express to date, and has chosen to support the next phase its growth:

Bailiwick Express is an innovative digital company which has really made a name for itself, and built an excellent local following.

“I’ve been watching the growth of Bailiwick Express for a while, and am delighted to now be able to get involved, and support an exciting locally-owned company which is really driving forward, shaping the future of its sector.

“From a business promotion point of view, the reach, value and measurable success of digital advertising is proving attractive.”

Mr Davey will also become a Director of Bailiwick Publishing, joining initial founders Mark Jackson and James Filleul.

As well as expansion into Guernsey, Bailiwick Express will also shortly be launching a series of new services on both its Jersey and Guernsey websites, as well as building a site for a UK audience.

Director Mark Jackson added: “As in most sectors, digital technology is disrupting established businesses, and offering customers the services they want, in the way they now want them. The media business is no different, and with print circulation declining in papers across the world, the challenge has been to offer attractive digital services in a way which is commercially sustainable.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our team who have worked really hard to become one of the established media so quickly.

“I’d also like to thank our advertisers, many of whom supported us from the very beginning, when all we really had to present was an idea. They have helped make that idea a reality, and we are proud to be able to support them now with cost-effective and successful communications platforms.

“This next phase of expansion will be really exciting, but with John, and the team we are building in Jersey and Guernsey, we’re looking forward to seeing what we can create. It may well be that the next phase of growth is a mixture of expansion and acquisition.”
