A former head of the Barclays’ franchise across the Crown Dependencies has been appointed chair of Jersey Electricity’s board.
Paul Savery’s appointment will take effect from 11 March 2027.
He will succeed Phil Austin MBE, who has served as chair since 2019 and has been a member of JE’s board for the past ten years.
Mr Savery, a Jersey winner of the Institute of Directors Director of the Year award in the Large Company category in 2017, joined JE’s board as a non-executive director at the end of last year.
He also became a member of the company’s audit and risk committee and its nominations committee earlier this year.
And he has served as chair of Macmillan for more than five years.

Mr Austin said the board was “pleased” to confirm Mr Savery’s appointment.
“Since joining the board, Paul has contributed positively to its work and to the company’s governance arrangements,” he continued.
“His appointment reflects the board’s commitment to orderly succession planning and continuity of leadership and I wish him every success in his role as chair.”
Mr Savery said he was “looking forward to officially taking on the role” next year.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Phil Austin for his commitment and service to JE, particularly in his role as chair,” he continued.
“His leadership has helped guide the company through a period of significant change, while maintaining a strong focus on JE’s customers and the wider community.”
Mr Savery described Jersey Electricity as “a highly respected organisation with a proud heritage and an important role in helping Jersey achieve its long term ambitions”.
He added: “I look forward to working closely with my fellow board members, the executive team and colleagues across the company to build on JE’s strong foundations, maintain the highest standards of governance and support the delivery of a secure, sustainable and resilient energy future for the island.”
