The LLM in Jersey Law was launched in January 2015 and enables those with an LLB Bachelors Degree in Law, or equivalent qualification, as well as practising advocates who have passed the Jersey Law Course, to obtain their Masters Degree through the Institute of Law Jersey.
Mr Marshall, an English solicitor, is based in Collas Crill’s fiduciary practice in Jersey.
He completed six compulsory and one optional module of the Jersey Law Course, and wrote a 15,000 word dissertation entitled “Whither Intellectual Property Law in Jersey” which included a comparison of the legislation in Jersey, Guernsey and Cayman.
His interest in intellectual property comes from his niche expertise in media and sports law matters having acted for numerous sportspersons, Premier League and Championship football clubs, motorsport teams and other sporting organisations.
Mr Marshall said, “I am delighted to have undertaken the LLM through the Institute of Law here in Jersey. It’s a great opportunity for local practitioners to extend their knowledge and add to their qualifications, all while being able to stay on the island. To be the first to be awarded the degree is very special.”
