Historian and co-host of The Rest is Politics podcast Rory Stewart has been announced as the keynote speaker for Jersey Finance’s private wealth flagship conference in London.
The former UK cabinet minister and diplomat is due to talk about his experience of working in frontline politics and international development as well as offering his insights on how trust is earned and lost on the world stage.
He will be joined by a number of expert speakers at the half-day event, which will take place at the Brewery on Tuesday 23 September.
Entitled Reputation as a Strategy, this year’s event will, the organisation says, explore how “wealth professionals and forward-thinking jurisdictions such as Jersey are evolving to meet new expectations – using reputation not just to respond, but to stand out in a complex environment”.
“With more than 60 years of experience, Jersey has built a strong reputation as a leading international finance centre, underpinned by high regulatory standards, a rigorous approach to compliance and a commitment to global co-operation,” said Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive Officer of Jersey Finance.
“But the world we live in today is increasingly complex, fragmented and uncertain. Investors, families, businesses and governments are placing an ever-greater emphasis on trust. It’s critical as an industry that we are alive to just how important reputation is as part of a strategy to meet the evolving needs of investors and play a meaningful role in the future of global finance.
“To that end, I’m delighted to be welcoming the Rory Stewart, whose insights from the international political stage will add a compelling dimension to what promises to be a packed agenda, featuring expert commentary from leading voices across the financial sector.”
More than 500 delegates from London and across the UK are expected to attend the event.
Sponsors are Affinity Private Wealth, Butterfield Mortgages, Carey Olsen, Crestbridge Family Office Services, Equiom, Fairway Group, HIGHVERN, Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Ltd, Lloyds Bank International, VG and Walkers.
