The team now comprises three partners in Guernsey, four partners in Jersey, and 21 lawyers overall – making it one of the largest standalone Banking and Finance legal teams in the Channel Islands.

Alex Wickens and James Lydeard both joined the partnership this year.

Mr Lydeard joined the firm’s Jersey office from another Channel Islands law firm in September.

Mr Wickens joined Walkers in 2021 as a senior counsel in Guernsey, and was promoted to partner in July of this year.

This follows a series of senior associate and associate-level hires throughout the year – including senior associates Siavush Mokhtar and Neo Tshikalange, and associates Seyed Ahlesaadat and Seth Botes.

Head of the Channel Islands Banking and Finance team, Nigel Weston said: “As a dedicated Banking and Finance offshore team in the Channel Islands, I’m delighted that we’ve continued building out a truly exceptional team that provides market-leading advice to our clients across the globe and I’m excited to see what opportunities await us in 2025.”

Guernsey Banking and Finance partner Kim Paiva added: “The growth of the banking and finance team in both Guernsey and Jersey is indicative of the depth and breadth of the work that we do and the demand we’re seeing across the market, which despite an inflationary economic environment has remained steady throughout 2024.”
