Alexander Panfilov performs on 11 February and conducts masterclass with local students.

Alexander Panfilov, one of Europe’s most respected and revered pianists will be performing in Guernsey in February 2020. Part of the Fanny Davis International Series, supported by Credit Suisse, Alexander will perform an evening of stunning classical pieces starting at 7.30pm on 11 February. He will also be conducting a masterclass with local students at St James earlier that afternoon. A truly fantastic way to kick off the Series in 2020, Credit Suisse will be providing all attendees with a champagne reception on arrival.

Alexander Panfilov is an exceptional talent, renowned for his dynamic and sensitive style. He has won first prize in more than 15 international piano competitions and has performed all over the world at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, The Wigmore Hall in London and the Philharmonie’s of Moscow and St. Petersburg. He is a musician of consummate skill and passion. His recital in Guernsey features Haydn’s last piano sonata, widely considered the composer’s greatest work in the genre, alongside the Romantic masterpieces of Schubert and Schumann. Two evocative movements from Albéniz’ Iberia will provide a Spanish-infused contrast.

On performing in Guernsey, Alexander said, “I look forward to bringing a special programme to Guernsey and to hearing local talents.” At 4.45pm on 11 February before the concert, Alexander will be conducting a special masterclass with three local students, playing pieces that they are preparing for performances, festivals and even exams. A wonderful opportunity for local pianists and enthusiasts, observers are very welcome to attend and view the workshop for free.

Paul Annegarn, Credit Suisse CEO and Guernsey Branch Manager commented, “Once again we are thrilled to be supporting St James and the Fanny Davis Series. It is wonderful to have musicians of this calibre visit Guernsey to share their talent and love of music. We are very excited about Alexander’s recital and will be providing a glass of bubbly, or a soft drink, to all ticket holders.’
