Callington Chambers is investing in new staff and premises to support its busy practice, following a stellar 2016.

Callington Chambers is a boutique Jersey law firm providing bespoke employment and information law services.  It has a focus on the provision of services to senior executives and high profile individuals, providing support in cases across the employment law spectrum, including in complex dismissal, zero hours, restrictive covenant and discrimination matters.

Litigator and information law specialist Advocate Davida Blackmore joined in 2016, having previously worked at Appleby for 11 years.

Callington Chambers has seen a significant increase in the demand for data protection advice and support, flowing from factors including the impact of technology on workplace behaviour (noting the increasing ease of transferring data outside business IT systems), the forthcoming implementation of the GDPR in 2018 and much publicised incidents such as the 2017 WannaCry cyber attack on the NHS.

The firm moved to larger offices at the end of 2016 and is now recruiting a Legal Assistant to provide further support.

Callington Chambers’ founder, Advocate Vicky Milner, said:

“I am very excited about recent developments within the firm.  This is a specialist business and it is important to us that we continue to provide clients with the expertise and one-to-one service they value.  We are finding that we have more clients looking for more services, particularly in the data protection field.  Data protection and employment law overlap to a significant extent and are logical partners.  This is particularly the case when one considers the explosive technology growth – and the data that this generates – that now underpins every facet of modern life including work.”
