It’s been a year to celebrate for Grand Jersey’s Concierge Hugo de Castro. Hugo proudly took the title of Concierge of the Year in the prestigious Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Star Awards in October and now, in honour of over three decades of dedicated service, he’s had a special anniversary cocktail named after him.
‘Hugo 35’ is a gin based cocktail consisting of Tanqueray Gin, Cherry Brandy, freshly squeezed lime juice, fresh cherries, Bénédictine and soda water. This special tipple was mixed up by his colleagues to celebrate his 35 years of service at the AA Five Star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa in St Helier.
The team gathered in the hotel’s Champagne Lounge last week and presented Hugo with a photo book full of memories of his time at Grand Jersey, along with a voucher with which Hugo can invite 35 guests to enjoy a special celebratory lunch at Grand Jersey.
General Manager of Hand Picked Hotels Jersey, Simon Miller said, “35 years of service is a real milestone and definitely one to celebrate. We were delighted to get together for Hugo’s big anniversary, to raise a glass of ‘Hugo 35’ and toast a very dedicated concierge and a much valued member of our team.”

Ingredients
25ml squeezed fresh lime juice
50ml Tanqueray Gin
25ml Cherry Brandy
Fresh cherries
15ml Bénédictine
Soda water
Method
Mix all together and then single strain in a tall glass and top with soda.
