L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa’s special limited edition ‘pink’ afternoon tea is back on the menu every weekend this October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to help support Islanders battling the disease.
Andrew Soddy, Executive Head Chef at the AA Four Red Star beachside hotel in St Brelade is preparing another delicious pink themed tea packed with tasty treats.
The selection includes a mouth-watering combination of savoury finger sandwiches from whipped goats cheese, beetroot and cranberry to smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber on beetroot bread.
As well as freshly baked scones with Jersey clotted cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd, there will be a whole host of rose-coloured sweet treats to tantalise the taste buds including pink velvet Victoria sponge and baked rhubarb and custard cheesecakes.
£10 from each afternoon tea will go directly to After Breast Cancer Care, the Jersey charity supporting women with breast cancer.
The local charity supports them both emotionally and financially, covering the cost of flights for appointments or treatment in the UK, assisting with childcare costs, cleaning and ironing services, covering the cost of wigs, lymphoedema sleeves, tattooing after reconstructive surgery, post-operative bras and a 12 step fitness programme.
The afternoon tea is priced at £24 per person or £35 for those who fancy a glass of pink Champagne.
L’Horizon’s Hotel Manager Thomas Burford said, “Last year’s pink afternoon tea raised £1,200 for After Breast Cancer which does a fantastic job providing invaluable support, raising awareness and encouraging women in Jersey to get screened.”
“This will be the third year that we have offered a special pink afternoon tea to support the charity and we’re really hoping to smash last year’s fundraising total and serve even more delicious ‘pink’ teas.”
