More than 300 supporters gathered at Government House to celebrate the work of the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT) at a special Summer Garden Party hosted by the charity Patrons, His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd KBE and Lady Kyd.

Families, corporate partners, funders, volunteers and community supporters enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment, activities and refreshments while recognising the collective impact being made for children and families across the island.

Welcoming guests, JCCT Chief Executive Officer Fiona Vacher thanked the charity’s Patrons for their continued support and reflected on the growing network of individuals, businesses, schools, trusts, foundations and community organisations helping the charity reach more children than ever before.

Speaking during the event, Fiona said: “The Jersey Child Care Trust is a local charity, but the impact of what we do extends far beyond the children and families who access our programmes directly.

“At its heart, our work is about giving children the best possible start in life. When children thrive, families are stronger, communities are stronger and ultimately our whole island benefits.”

Demand for support through JCCT’s services continues to grow, with 331 children and families accessing support during the last year.

A highlight of the afternoon was the recognition of JCCT’s Young Ambassadors – Leo, Lili, Henry, Rowan and Lochlan, who volunteer their time, represent JCCT at events, fundraise and share awareness so that other children can access support when they need it.

Fiona said: “These young people represent everything that is good about our charity. They don’t just talk about helping others – they get on and do it. We are incredibly proud of them and very fortunate to have them as ambassadors.”

Children attending the Summer Garden Party enjoyed a range of activities, while guests relaxed in the beautiful surroundings of Government House and caught up with friends and supporters of the charity.

JCCT extends its sincere thanks to Little Lux Co, whose sponsorship of the children’s activities, food and refreshments helped create a warm and welcoming experience for families throughout the afternoon.

The charity is also grateful to DJ Mel and Alfie Butel for providing the afternoon’s entertainment, Hoops and Glitter for bringing creative sparkle for the children, and The Jersey Oyster Co. for generously donating oysters, expertly shucked by volunteers Joe Bouchard and Marcus Calvani.

Special thanks also go to the many volunteers who supported the event, including teams from Ogier and Standard Bank Offshore, whose enthusiasm and generosity helped ensure the afternoon ran smoothly.

Reflecting on the event, Fiona Vacher said: “Our Summer Garden Party was a wonderful celebration of everything that makes our island special – community, generosity and a shared commitment to supporting children and families.

“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Jerry and Lady Kyd for so kindly hosting us at Government House and for their unwavering support of our work.

“Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined us. Whether you support us through fundraising, volunteering, sponsorship, donation or advocacy, you are helping us reach more children and families across Jersey when it matters most.”
