Cyber security firm gains ‘Cyber Essentials’ assessor status

Thursday 23 November 2017

Defence Logic, a newly established cyber security firm, has gained a certification to provide cyber security and information assurance assessments for local businesses to the standard required under the States' Cyber Security Strategy.

Defence Logic recently qualified through a UK Government-appointed accreditation body to be an assessor for both the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials+ certifications.

Defence Logic has also qualified as an assessor in relation to the EU’s forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) under IASME’s governance framework.

Defence Logic was established in Jersey in September by Anthony Flemmer, Chief Executive Officer, Paul Dutot, Chief Technical Officer, and Alex Brunwin, Chairman (Non-Exec).

Anthony Flemmer said: “Firms in Jersey are operating in an increasingly complex digital environment and are having to deal with cyber-attacks on a daily basis, which have the potential to cost them significantly in terms of time, money and reputation. It’s against that backdrop that Defence Logic was established, and we welcome the move by the States of Jersey to introduce this minimum security standard. Firms, particularly in the financial services sector, should move quickly to establish whether they comply with the Cyber Essentials criteria and where their digital weaknesses might be.”

Paul Dutot added: “Obtaining this Cyber Essentials accreditation from IASME means we are now in an extremely strong position to be able to support local businesses in line with the States of Jersey’s strategy and ensure they are sufficiently prepared to meet the demands of operating in a sophisticated digital environment."
