Employers of five or more people are being urged to ensure their policies to prevent avoidable injuries or illness at work are up to date.
Following on from Safety and Health at Work awareness day, HR and H&S specialists Law at Work (LaW) are highlighting the importance of having secure H&S procedures in place.
They are calling all employers and businesses to check their H&S policies are current and ensure they protection the health and safety of their employees and the public.
LaW Health and Safety Business Manager, Matt Bougourd (pictured) said: “As an employer, you may be asking yourself, ‘Do I really need a H&S policy?’ and the answer is, if you employ five persons or more, yes.
“It is an employer’s responsibility to create a safe working environment. As well as adhering to legal obligations and preventing avoidable injuries or illness, H&S policies promote a successful working environment. For example, employers who set clear guidelines and enforce these instil confidence in their employees, improve efficiency and maintain a good reputation within their industry."
LaW offers guidance about H&S legislative requirements, but also develops H&S policies and provides risk assessments for a broad range of companies, projects and investigations.
