Jersey Post goes green!

Friday 21 August 2015

Jersey Post will be going green today, Friday 21st, to raise valuable funds for local charity, Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey).

A company-wide dress down day will see all staff, including postal workers, wearing something, or everything, green and there will be a raffle and various cake sales at Jersey Post sites to boost the fundraising total. Customers should be advised that although postal workers will not be in uniform on Friday, they will all still be carrying Jersey Post ID, should customers wish to verify their status as Jersey Post employees.

Beth Moore, Fundraising Lead at Macmillan Jersey, said: We were really excited to be chosen as Jersey Post’s charity for this year. The team continue to put so much fun, energy and creativity into raising funds and we are extremely grateful for their support.”

Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations, said: “Macmillan Jersey was a strong favourite among our staff who wanted to continue to support the charity in 2015. Having had colleagues who have used the service and knowing how many people are touched by cancer, we’re all doing as much as we can again this year to raise funds for this excellent local cause. Previous Go Green Days have been such a success, staff were keen to hold another and we have various activities taking place throughout the day that our employees have organised.”

Jersey Post will continue to raise money for Macmillan Jersey for the rest of the year, by entering teams in the Macmillan Corporate Golf Day on the 10 October and encouraging members of staff to participate in ‘Sober October’. In addition, Macmillan Christmas cards will be available from October at the Broad Street and Rue Des Pres post shops as well as the Macmillan Jersey Cancer Information and Support Centre on the second floor of the Lido Medical Centre, St Saviour’s Road. Each pack will cost £5 and all proceeds will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey.

Please note: Jersey Post are NOT going to be turning post boxes green - that was Bailiwick Express's photo magic!
