Recognising Jersey’s appeal for financial services, especially in the field of fund management and domiciliation, Global Investor/ISF magazine, one of Euromoney Institutional Investor’s flagship titles has awarded Jersey ‘Financial Centre of the Year 2015’ in their annual Investment Excellence Awards.
Held on Thursday 2 July at the Grange, St Pauls, the Global Investor/ISF awards recognise the most important contributions to asset management over the past twelve months. Richard Nunn, Jersey Finance’s Business Development Director for the UK, attended the awards ceremony and collected the award on behalf of the Industry.
The panel of experts that judged the awards said: "The news from Jersey got better and better throughout 2014. A strong performance in the funds sector saw the value of fund assets administered in the jurisdiction increase by almost one fifth year-on-year to reach the highest level in seven years."
Geoff Cook, CEO of Jersey Finance said: "Awards of this nature are acknowledgement that Jersey is seen as a leading International Finance Centre. A reputation built on the highest standards of corporate governance, a continued commitment to developing new products, and evolving laws and regulations to meet international investor demand. In an ever-changing landscape, the enduring appeal of Jersey as a secure and well-regulated financial services jurisdiction is providing investor confidence, which not only attracts business, but also global recognition."
In the last 12 months, Jersey has received a number of similar endorsements.
It was judged 'Best International Finance Centre' at the inaugural Professional Advisers International Fund and Product Awards 2014, 'Best Fund Service Centre' at Investment Week's Fund Services Awards 2014 and ‘International Financial Centre of the Year’ at the Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards 2015. It was also awarded ‘outstanding achievement in secured transaction registry innovation’ by the International Association of Commercial Administrators for its new security register.
In addition to these awards, it has also received positive endorsements for its role in the transparency agenda and contribution to the EU from Pierre Moscovici, the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs and Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of the OECD Center for Tax Policy and Administration.
