Miles for Mind event raises £1,500 for Mind Jersey

Wednesday 29 July 2015

A recent fundraising initiative organised by RBC Wealth Management employees has raised more than £1,500 for Mind Jersey.

Despite it being a wet and blustery weekend, over 70 RBC Wealth Management employees, friends and family, participated in “Miles for Mind”, a 10K race and 5K family walk in aid of the charity. Both routes started and finished at Radisson Blu, which provided the venue for the post-race celebration.

Mind Jersey is the partner charity for both Radisson Blu and RBC Wealth Management throughout 2015. Both organisations have committed to raise as much money as possible for Jersey’s leading mental health charity.

James Le Feuvre, from Mind Jersey, said: "We are grateful for the continuing support that the Radisson Blu and RBC Wealth Management employees are providing through fundraising efforts such as this. Mind Jersey relies heavily on the generosity of the local community to enable us to provide advice, support and practical help for those, and their families, experiencing mental health problems."

Radisson Blu general manager Fergus O’Donovan, said: "Miles for Mind has been a great example of two businesses working together to raise money for a local charity. We were pleased to offer RBC use of the hotel and provide refreshments in support of their social event."

Andrena Ball, Sports & Social Charity of the Year Coordinator at RBC Wealth Management, said: "This is one of many activities that we have been running this year in aid of Mind Jersey. We had a great turnout, despite the weather, and most importantly, raised a lot of money for the charity. Thanks to Fergus and the team at Radisson Blu for offering us use of the hotel as a base for this family event."
