National recognition for young investment managers

Friday 26 May 2017

Two Channel Island young investment managers have been named in a prestigious national “Top 30 Under 30: Class of 2017” list.

The annual list by leading wealth management publication Citywire aims to identify rising stars within the UK private client investment management industry.

Oliver Harwood in Jersey, and Isobel Whalley in Guernsey, who both work for Brooks Macdonald, are the only Channel Island-based professionals to feature in the list.

Ms Whalley joined Brooks Macdonald through its Graduate Training Scheme in 2013 and has undertaken an accelerated professional development programme that most recently led to her passing the CISI Level 7 exam and becoming a Chartered Wealth Manager. She now sits on the firm’s international asset allocation committee.

Meanwhile, having qualified as a private client manager in 2014, Mr Harwood joined Brooks Macdonald two years ago. Also a Chartered Wealth Manager, he is currently a member of Brooks Macdonald’s international stock group and asset allocation committee and works in the firm’s balanced model strategy team.

Commenting on the achievement, Darren Zaman, CEO, International, Brooks Macdonald, said: “Supporting the development of aspiring investment professionals in the Channel Islands is a core objective for us and with that in mind, I’m very pleased to see Isobel and Oliver recognised in this list. To be identified as amongst the very best within the industry nationally is an impressive achievement and one they fully deserve as exceptional investment managers.”
