New Audit Director for KPMG in the Channel Islands

Tuesday 31 May 2016

Brian Bethell has been promoted to Audit Director as KPMG in the Channel Islands expand their leadership team to support the continued growth of the business.

Mr Bethell will work alongside a pan-island department of 15 Audit Partners and Directors and 144 audit professionals.

In his new role, Mr Bethell will lead the audits of a wide range of clients in the fiduciary, investment management and banking sector. He will also have a leading role in KPMG’s delivery of other areas such as cyber security services, a key growth area for KPMG globally.

As new EU Audit Reform regulations are put forward to improve the quality of statutory audit across the EU, Mr Bethell’s promotion allows KPMG to maintain its policy of being director-led and ensuring clients have regular access to and engagement with those leading audits.

Mr Bethell is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has been based in the Channel Islands for ten years. He has extensive experience working with financial services businesses, including banks, trust companies, corporate service providers and fund administrators. He has been working as an accountant for 18 years and has nine years experience working within the audit and assurance services at KPMG Channel Islands Limited.

In his spare time, Mr Bethell enjoys spending time with his wife Claire and two young boys getting out and enjoying the Jersey outdoors. He is a keen follower of sport, including football and boxing and also enjoys a game of golf (or perhaps the walk).

Jason Laity, Chairman, KPMG in the Channel Islands, says: "Brian’s significant experience with regulatory change across the banking industry will be of significant benefit to our clients as they navigate such areas as the local impact of ring-fencing, Basel III and other matters. We are delighted to welcome him to the leadership team."
