New Group Executive at Channel Island Lines

Freight operator Channel Island Lines has appointed Andy Cook as Group Chief Executive.

A well-known figure in the local business community, Mr Cook is the outgoing Chief Executive of Jersey Business Limited. He was previously the Finance Director of Family Nursing and Home Care, and before that he was an executive board member of CI Traders Limited, the Managing Director of CI Bakeries and Riche Marques. He is a Chartered Manager and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Mr Cook said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fresh, vibrant and growing business at an exciting time in its development. I am really looking forward to working with the existing team and leading the Group going forward.”

Channel Island Lines was established in September 2013 to provide an integrated lift on-lift off sea freight and logistics service between UK and the Channel Islands, to fill the gap left when Huelin-Renouf Shipping ceased trading.

Group Executive Chairman Paul Sands, who is about to retire from the board,, said: “We are delighted that Andy, with his proven commercial acumen and strong strategic management skills will be leading the team to build our freight services business to the next level”.

Former St Peter Port Harbourmaster Peter Gill has recently been appointed a non-executive director of Channel Island Lines (Guernsey) Limited, the group’s Guernsey operation.

Channel Island Lines has warehouses, port facilities and operations in Southampton, Jersey and Guernsey and runs a ship designed specifically for these routes between these locations three times a week. It handles a wide range of cargos from building and construction materials, retail and wholesale products, bulky and awkward plant and equipment to furniture, personal goods and vehicles.
