NHS Software Engineer joins C5 Alliance and MedTech.je team

Friday 25 September 2015

C5 Alliance has welcomed its newest team member, software engineer Paul Blampied, Ph.D.

In his new role, Mr Blampied will utilise and apply his knowledge and skills in open source and open data, working closely with a team of expert consultants to implement the organisation’s eHealth and eGovernment initiatives.

Before joining C5 Alliance, he worked as a software developer for the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC), the UK’s provider of data, information and IT systems for the NHS, who play a fundamental role in driving better care and services using technology.

Mr Blampied was part of the team who implemented Spine 2, the messaging infrastructure used to communicate critical patient data between the NHS and third parties. He also helped to develop the Summary Care Record application, now relied upon by thousands of NHS workers across the UK.

C5 Alliance will also leverage his technical skills and relevant experience in working with medical technology infrastructures by dispatching him on projects for MedTech.je. Following its launch this month, C5 Alliance were announced as members of the MedTech.je consortium, which combines the skills of 250 local technology and health experts to create eHealth solutions.

Mark Loane, CEO of C5 Alliance, members of MedTech.je, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Paul back to C5 Alliance. It is an extremely exciting time for Jersey and eHealth, particularly with the launch of MedTech.je, where I am confident Paul’s expert knowledge and skillset is ideally matched, as well as several of our current initiatives. Having an experienced NHS software developer on our team will have a huge positive impact on the way we approach MedTech.je projects. I am looking forward to seeing Paul excel in this role.”
