Getting ready for the Christmas rush...

A local online shop to assist Island businesses to sell online recently launched in Jersey selling products available from local retailers.

Anina.je was set up by Anna Hughes, who is also involved with charity events including Groove De Lecq and Spice Arts and Music Festival. Since it was launched earlier this year, Anina.je has more than 50 clients and a wedding section is being added.

While the online shop will remain the focus of the business, Ms Hughes is opening a shop within Morton and Morton at St Peter in October to give Anina.je sellers an outlet for direct selling.

She said: “I saw the need for an online retail portal in Jersey, having seen how hard it is for small businesses to get started online and become successful while trying to compete with sites like Amazon and Notonthehighstreet. Finding the time or resources to manage an online business is almost impossible for many and Anina.je offers an affordable solution to locals.

Anina.je sells just about everything from furniture and interior accessories to cookies, cakes and flowers, wedding presents, art and clothing. Some items are homemade in the Island and others come from the other side of the world.

“Working together means sharing resources and reducing individual costs. We don’t want to rely on people feeling obliged to buy local; we want to ensure they want to buy local because the goods on offer are varied, high quality and because the prices and delivery are all as competitive as possible,” said Ms Hughes.
