The managing director of Channel Islands public relations consultancy Liquid has been awarded Chartered PR Practitioner status.
Jason MacKenzie, who is a Chartered Marketer and Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), is the 51st person to receive the accolade.
Mr MacKenzie is a visiting lecturer in public relations at Birmingham City University and a consultant, trainer and judge of national awards, including the CIPR Excellence Awards and the PRWeek Awards. He is also a CIPR executive board director, council member and chairman of its Professional Practices Committee.
After serving as the first Channel Islands chairman of the CIPR, Mr MacKenzie relocated from Jersey to the Midlands, where Liquid also has an office, in 2013.
Liquid’s recent achievements include winning the 2014/2015 CIPR PRide South of England & Channel Islands 'Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy' award and the 2014/2015 PRCA DARE Midlands 'Consultancy of the Year' award. The PR and marketing consultancy works across education, financial services, consumer, business to business, crisis and reputation management. Its clients include Alsbridge, Bord Bia (Irish Food Board), the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers and The Great Run Company.
The CIPR assessors gave particular credit to Mr MacKenzie for his leadership, learning, innovation and ethical practice, saying that he is "a strategic thinker…an ambassador for public relations and the professional practice and employment of it."
Mr MacKenzie said: "I am honoured to be awarded such a highly regarded status – it’s something I have worked hard towards. Our industry must become more professional and continuing professional development, qualifications and accreditations are key components of this journey."
