Jersey Fashion Week has kicked off in style - casting day saw over 300 applicants, with the top 30 models now in the running to be crowned JT’s ‘Peoples’ Choice’ model.

The public are being invited to vote for their favourite of the 30 JT’s ‘Peoples’ Choice’ finalists and the winner will be announced on Friday 23rd October on JT’s facebook page: @JTSocial.

The casting session proved to be hugely popular with over 300 candidates applying and the shortlist being selected by fashion guru and event organiser Julian Bennett and his expert fashion team. The shortlisted 30 will now get the chance to appear on the catwalk in the inaugural Jersey Fashion Week, taking place on 26th and 27th October.

JT’s ‘Peoples’ Choice’ winner will not only walk the catwalk in one of Jersey Fashion Week’s shows, they will also receive a fabulous personal £1,000 shopping spree accompanied by Julian Bennett – star of TV shows such as ‘Queer Eye for a Straight Guy’, ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ and fashion stylist to the stars.  They will also get to appear in an exclusive photo-shoot with Gallery Magazine.

Voting for JT’s ‘Peoples’ Choice’ Award is now open at www.jtglobal.com/JFW and islanders can go online now and vote.  Voting will close at midnight on Thursday 22nd October.

Jersey Fashion Week is a first for Jersey and will encompass a series of fashion shows, featuring clothes and accessories from local stores, who will showcase their latest collections for men, women and children. The 30 models will all take part in the event sponsored by JT.

Julien Bennett said: "It will be an event like no other here in Jersey, with some of the best boutiques and shops showcasing their fashion collections to the public.

"Jersey Fashion Week is about demonstrating fashion for real people. I want it to be at the forefront of the fashion industry by having real models of all shapes, sizes and ages showcased, something that the fashion world has never done before."

Tamara O’Brien, Head of Brand and Marketing for JT said: “The aim of Jersey Fashion Week is to bring an international-standard event to Jersey, with a focus on making fashion fun and accessible for all.  There is something for everyone and an incredible chance to model in professional catwalk shows guided by experienced fashion show experts. We’re delighted to be involved in supporting this, and through the JT’s ‘People’s Choice’ Award everyone can get involved by voting for the person they think deserves the title. This is a great opportunity for anyone keen on modelling to get a taste. Who knows where this could lead!”

Six charities will benefit from the proceeds of Jersey Fashion Week including JT’s charity for 2015, Cancer Research UK.
