There has been a superb response to the call for volunteers to help visitors to town this Christmas with 20 people offering to spend time working as St Helier Angels throughout the Christmas shopping period.
“I’m absolutely delighted with the response to our call for volunteers,” said Daphne East, Town Centre Manager. “It is wonderful that so many people have offered their time to help other islanders and visitors to St Helier this Christmas.”
The volunteers are meeting for their final briefing before they begin their patrols, at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. As well as finding out more about their duties, they will also be given the uniforms that will make them easily identifiable by shoppers in St Helier.
Mrs East said: “We have volunteers from all walks of life, including some people who volunteered earlier this year as Games Makers at the Island Games. All of our volunteers have received excellent training in customer service by Resilience Development Company who have very kindly donated their time for the Angels Project, which has also been made possible by Sure who have donated money, skills and the uniforms to bring the St Helier Angels back to town this Christmas.”
The St Helier Angels will be on patrol and able to help locals and visitors to St Helier throughout the busiest times during the Christmas shopping period, with the first patrols starting on the evening of Thursday 26 November.
