Washington economist strengthens Crestbridge team

A former economist for the International Money Fund in Washington will join Crestbridge as an advisor to its management company.

The firm was one of the first in Jersey to be granted a JFSC license to develop such an offering, known as ‘ManCo’.

They’ve now bolstered the team behind the project with the hire of Gunther Thumann (pictured), who will focus on ManCo’s strategic development.

It follows his appointment as Chairman of Jersey Finance and work as Chief Executive and Chairman of the Board of Brevan Howard Capital Management. As well as his public and private sector experience. Mr Thurman also bring expertise gained from a PhD in Economics and Statistics from the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Mr Thumann commented that he was “excited by the prospect of joining such a knowledgeable and expert team.”

“With the recent regulatory changes, especially BEPS, I believe this is perfect time for our ManCo solution,” he said.

Elliot Refson, Director of Funds and ManCo Services, added:  “I’m delighted to welcome Gunther to Crestbridge. Gunther is an immensely respected figure in the industry whose extensive experience working in the Hedge Fund world will add substantial value to our Jersey ManCo services. His experience within the economic world and professional market knowledge will be of great benefit to our clients.”
