What's the future of construction?

Monday 03 October 2016

Panellists have been announced for a Jersey Construction Week debate on how the industry will look in 2025.

The debate, sponsored by Benest & Syvret, will have a ‘Question Time’ format, allowing leading figures in the industry to quiz an expert panel of speakers including senior government officials on the opportunities and challenges facing the industry in the next decade.

Panellists will include: Treasury Minister Senator Alan Maclean, Environment Minister Deputy Steve Luce, Ray Foster, Chris Sampson, Kevin Keen & Francis Binney

Martin Holmes, Chairman of the Jersey Construction Council, said:  "The future of our built landscape is not just a concern for industry, it is a matter of public interest, as it broadly impacts upon the entire community, creating skilled jobs for Islanders and economic advantages for all. Naturally we can’t predict every future outcome, but this debate is about government and industry thinking ahead of the curve, investing in our skills economy to ensure we are best equipped to embrace the future with certainty and optimism."

"This is a unique opportunity for industry figures to have their voices heard, and I look forward to a lively discourse, exploring how we can pool our resources to deliver the best possible future to the benefit of islanders."

The Jersey Construction Week runs from Monday 10th October to Saturday 15th October. Alongside the debate, there will be a program of events running throughout the week, culminating in the Jersey Construction Awards on Saturday evening where eleven companies and individuals from all corners of the construction industry will be recognized for their achievements.
