Public Accounts Committee seeking two independent members

Description

​The States of Jersey Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is seeking applications from persons willing to serve as members of the PAC. Two people, who are not elected members of the States will be nominated by the Chair to serve with the elected members until mid-2020.

The PAC is a committee of the States Assembly. Its purpose is to hold the Executive arm of the Government to account. It reports on significant issues arising from the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General. It assesses whether public funds have been applied for the purpose intended by the States and whether sound financial practices are being applied throughout the public sector. It works to ensure that best value is attained for tax payers.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be an experienced professional able to demonstrate a successful track record in finance, legal, regulatory or a similar environment. Executive or director level experience in complex organisations and / or literacy in accounting would be an advantage. Evidence of reaching consensus opinion and exercising informed judgments are also essential qualities.

The Committee will conduct interview for this unremunerated positon on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 July 2018. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will attend their first meeting on Monday 23 July 2018.
