June 2017 saw an increase in excess of 4,000 commercial air passengers through Jersey Airport compared to the same period in 2016.
During the month the Island welcomed 156,718 air passengers compared to 152,241 in June 2016, an increase of 2.9%. There's been an overall year-to-date rise of 1.7%, welcoming 734,159 passengers compared to 721,943 in 2016 and 691,216 in 2015. Inter-island air passenger numbers remain down at -15% but there are steady increases in the London market (+3%), Scotland (+24%), the northwest (+10%) and north east (+11).
easyJet currently remains the carrier with the largest market share at 37%, followed by British Airways (24%) and Flybe (20%).
Although June 2017 saw sea passenger numbers down by -4% compared to 2016 levels (84,106 in 2017 compared to 87,423 in 2016) year to date numbers remain higher. A total of 292,406 sea passengers have travelled through the harbour ports so far in 2017 compared to the same period in 2016, an increase of +6%.
Condor Ferries has an overall market share of 86%, although Manches Iles, which also operates sea services from Jersey to France and the other Channel Islands has seen a rise in its passenger numbers so far in 2017.
