Statistics Jersey has launched the 2018 Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (JOLS).

The survey runs every year to provide important information to help government plan and deliver policy and public services.

This year the survey is gathering opinions on a range of topics including:

  • future housing needs and satisfaction with housing

  • voting in the recent elections

  • general health and wellbeing

  • energy efficiency, recycling and reuse

From today, around 3,500 randomly selected households will receive a questionnaire through the post and there is also an option for households to complete the survey online. The responses will be confidential and used to produce grouped statistics. The results will be published towards the end of the year and past questionnaires and reports can be found at www.gov.je/statistics.

Commenting on the survey Dr Duncan Gibaut, Chief Statistician for Jersey, said: “The annual survey is an invaluable source of information on islander’s opinions and lifestyles, and I’d like to encourage everyone who receives the survey to take part.

I would like to reassure everyone that all responses to the survey will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used to produce official statistics. By taking part you’ll help us all gain a better understanding of islander’s opinions and way of life.”
