After the success of the initiative last year, the Association of Jersey Charities (AJC) is encouraging islanders to get into the Christmas spirit once again and support local charities through its ‘Chari-table Market Pop-Up’ series.

The initiative will see the AJC host a table in the Central Market every day (except Sundays) from now until 4thDecember, giving a different charity each day a much-needed opportunity to set up their own stall, sell festive goodies and raise funds for their respective causes.

Charities taking part this year include the JCCT, RNLI, Gorey Youth Project, National Trust for Jersey, EYECAN, Salvation Army, Kairos Arts, Jersey Cancer Relief, After Breast Cancer, Room to Talk, MIND Jersey, Jersey Hospice Care, Jersey Women’s Refuge, Dementia Jersey and Jersey Cheshire Home.

Exact times and dates can be found by following the AJC on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, and via www.jerseycharities.org.

Kevin Keen, Chairman of the AJC, commented:

“This scheme was introduced last year, replacing the traditional Christmas Fayre which was made unfeasible because of physical distancing restrictions. It was a real success, helping ten charities to raise around £5,000, so we’re really pleased to be able to bring it back this year, extend it to more charities and help them raise even more money, whilst at the same time adding a bit of festive cheer to the Central Market.”
