To date 289 teams have registered for the 2022 Lions Club of Jersey Swimarathon which, sponsored by Ravenscroft, takes place between 9 and 13 March next year. This event will be both the 50th Swimarathon and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first “Jersey Lions Sponsored Swim” in January 1972.
With the teams yet to confirm, just 94 55-minute slots are available.
“The response of teams has been terrific and to have less than a hundred slots available at the end of November is very gratifying,” says the Lions’ organising committee chairman Lion Steve Taylor. “This event is very special for several reasons. Not only is it the 50th and worthy of celebration for that reason alone, but also it will be supporting the establishment of a Community Hub at Maison des Landes following a major redevelopment of the hotel. The Community Hub is scheduled to open its doors to Jersey people who are disadvantaged by old age, infirmity or disability towards the end of next year. The Hotel itself has been a major Lions project since the mid-1960s and thus predates the Swimarathon.”
There are still evening sessions available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9, 10 and 11 March and at various times of the day on the Saturday and Sunday.
Details of availability can be obtained from administrator@lionsswimarathon.org.
