Today, the 7th May, Jersey’s Atlantic Hotel celebrates its 45th anniversary and four and a half decades of success; quite an achievement for this family owned and operated hotel.
An article in the Jersey Evening Post on 7 May 1970 heralded the arrival of a ‘new luxury hotel’ on the most magnificent site in the Channel Islands, bringing to fruition the late Henry Burke’s vision of a luxury hotel in a stunning location. Now four and a half decades on, the property, the only Jersey member of the exclusive Small Luxury Hotels of the World, ranks among the finest and highest rated hotels in the British Isles.
Patrick Burke took over the reins from his father on 7th May 1987 and he remains, along with his wife Treena, very much a hands-on proprietor, personally overseeing many of the aspects that make The Atlantic Hotel so very special.
The Atlantic Hotel has evolved over the years, adapting to the diverse needs of discerning international travellers. Continuous improvements and enhancements along with an extensive annual investment programme ensure that this luxury property maintains its high standards and excellent reputation year after year, never more so than today with its current status as Independent Hotel of the Year.
Commenting on this milestone anniversary, Patrick Burke said: “We are in celebratory mood today as we mark 45 fabulous years. It is a privilege and a pleasure for me to continue in my father’s footsteps, to uphold his legacy and to maintain his vision of running a unique hotel to high international standards on one of the most stunning sites in the Channel Islands. My particular thanks go to the wonderful team here at The Atlantic Hotel for all that they have contributed to this achievement.”
