11 employees from the International team at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management spent the day gardening at Jersey Hospice Care last month to help prepare the gardens for winter.

The team, guided by hospice gardener Blair Talibard, spent the day weeding, sweeping up leaves, hedge cutting and cleaning the water feature and patio.

Jersey Hospice Care’s services are available to anyone and are provided at no cost to the patient or their family.

The charity first began with a home care service in 1982. The work done in the community is still central to what is offered today and the Hospice Community team is on call all day, 365 days a year.

“Barclays has a proud tradition of supporting and investing in the communities where we do business,” said Justin Read, Vice President in the International Banking team in Barclays Jersey.

“Jersey Hospice is such an important local charity and I hope our gardening has helped make a real difference to the grounds so that patients and their families can enjoy the gardens this winter.

“The team is already looking forward to donning their gardening gloves again for a return visit next year.”

Barclays employees took part in the Jersey Hospice Care ‘Wear your onesie to work day’ last month to help raise much needed funds for the charity.

Employees dressed in an array of animal print and brightly colored onesies for the day and raised nearly £200 in the process.
