Michelin-starred restaurant Bohemia in Jersey is celebrating due to being awarded the prestigious two-star award in the ‘World’s Best Wine Lists Awards 2017’; plus the Award of Excellence for its outstanding wine selection in ‘Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards 2017.’
Bohemia boasts an extensive inventory of 3,000 bottles of wine from a selection of 310 bins, all personally chosen by Restaurant Manager Dimitri Marqueteau, and Head Sommelier Georgi Mihov. The restaurant sources a large number of these wines directly, and its list encompasses top wines across several regions. Recent additions include wines made from the Greek white wine grape Malagousia, and Buket from Bulgaria. Bohemia also has a large selection of French wines due to its close proximity to Jersey.
In addition, the restaurant offers a Grand Formats wine list which is believed to be one of the largest in the UK. The list encompasses over 30 different large bottle wines from Magnums (2 bottles) to Imperiales (8 bottles wine) and includes Salmanazzar and Nebuchadnezzars of Champagne (12 & 20 bottles). The list is a hit for private parties and gatherings both in the restaurant and private dining rooms.
During the judging process for both awards the breadth, depth, interest, quality, and value of Bohemia’s impressive wine selection were considered as well as the suitability of the selection.
Two-Star Award in the World’s Best Wine Lists Awards 2017
Bohemia triumphed as the internationally acclaimed wine magazine invited an eclectic panel of judges to assess the wine selections from across the world. This year, some of the world’s leading wine critics and sommeliers from around the globe were involved, including Ch’ng Poh Tiong, Andrew Jefford, Andreas Larsson, Elin McCoy, Francis Percival, Alder Yarrow and Jane Parkinson, wine expert for BBC’s Saturday Kitchen Live. The judges assessed well over 4,500 wine lists from restaurants around the world before deciding on the final award-winning offerings, which included Bohemia’s two-star award.
