Brig-y-Don Children's Charity has appointed Steve Harvey as its first Chief Executive.
The long established local charity Brig-y-Don Children's Charity uses its funds to buy goods, services and life-enhancing experiences to improve the lives of children and young people in residential care in Jersey. It continues to help when, as young adults, residents leave care to live independently in the wider community, by for example, sponsoring further education and items to promote independence; by so doing the charity seeks to encourage selfsufficiency.
Steve Harvey, a previous Chief Executive of Jersey Hospice Care, has worked in roles spanning the health, education and charity sectors as well as serving in a voluntary capacity for numerous not-for-profit organisations.
Mr Harvey will manage the charity's staff and volunteers, help the charity to further raise awareness of its work and develop effective working partnerships, as well as working with the Board of Trustees to ensure the continued success of Brig-y-Don Children's Charity.
Describing Brig-y-Don Children's Charity as a “highly respected and vital charity”, Mr Harvey commented: “I am privileged to be offered this opportunity and very much look forward to helping Brig-y-Don to further evolve and to continue to deliver excellent, tangible support. Brig-y-Don Children's Charity makes a real difference to young people's lives.”
Deputy Susie Pinel, the charity’s Chair, welcomed Mr Harvey to the team: “Brig-y-Don, which started in 1925, has achieved so much over the years. We are delighted to appoint our first ever Chief Executive and with the experience, vision and leadership Steve brings to the charity, we are very much looking forward to being even more successful."
