From the 28th May 2018, Brig-y-Don Children’s Charity will be known as ‘Brightly’.
Brig-y-Don Children’s Charity has always endeavoured to evolve the work of the charity to suit the needs of the children and young people it supports in Jersey. Consequently, the decision has been made to rebrand the charity to reflect changes and to ensure the public understand the breadth of the support we now provide.
It has become very clear that if the charity remained as ‘Brig-y-Don Children’s Charity’, then the majority of people will continue to think that the charity just runs the children’s home Brig-y-Don House, which we ceased to do in 2009.
It has been a hard decision to make, but vital for the future of the charity, as it will enable us to be better understood as we work to improve the lives of Jersey’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Following consultation, the decision was made to change the name to reflect what the charity does today and to give a better understanding of who is supported. Later this month Brightly is undertaking an island-wide mail drop, to about 43,000 households, to make people aware of this important change.
Our main aim is to continue as a small Charity, but one that can make a big difference, by both ‘Enhancing Childhood and Enabling Independence.’
