Two of Jersey’s leading business groups have joined forces to host a presentation on the opportunities for trade in Dubai.

Two of Jersey’s leading business groups have joined forces to host a presentation on the opportunities for trade in Dubai.

The half-day seminar, called Dynamic Dubai, aims to inform island businesses about the emirate and the potential for investment and export. Dubai has enjoyed strong growth post economic downturn, with second quarter recovery recorded at just under 5%, and the financial markets index seeing an increase of just under 13% as at the end of the first quarter of 2013.

Guest speakers at the event include Fayha Sultan of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce and Ayman Al Awadhi, Chief Executive of CBS, which is one of Dubai’s leading business start-up and infrastructure companies. Jersey Business Chief Executive Andy Cook will also address the meeting to talk about the importance of supporting international development for Jersey companies. He said: ‘There are many new and existing businesses here in Jersey looking at overseas markets to develop their trade opportunities. Everyone is aware of the potential in the Far East but there is also sense in considering the Middle East as a trading partner. We think this talk will be of significant interest to local business leaders and owners.’

Ian Taylor, Chief Executive of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce agrees: ‘We represent the broadest cross-section of businesses in Jersey, from service to manufacturing and we want to explore all opportunities that might present themselves, which will help our members find new markets and potentially valuable business.

The event is sponsored by the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Department and is free to attend at the Ouless Room, Jersey Museum on 27th November from 09.30 until 13.00. Anyone interested in attending should register by emailing fsultan@dubaitourism.co.uk
