The team from Guernsey's Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre were triumphant in the Senior Maths Team Challenge, beating off competition from six other teams of A level maths students.

The team from Guernsey's Elizabeth College finished in second place, with last year's winners Jersey's Victoria College finishing third.

Three of the four members of the Grammar School's winning team (Lillian Woodall, George Headington and Harry Plumley) are no strangers to the maths challenge competition, as they were also part of the Grammar School's winning team in the junior maths challenge back in 2010.

One of BWCI's actuaries and Student Study Coordinator, Matt Stanbury, presented the team with the BWCI Trophy saying "We are delighted to be able to continue to sponsor the maths team challenge which tests both the students' ability to solve complex mathematical problems, as well as their skills in working together as a team to work in the most efficient way".

He went on to say "As always, BWCI are pleased to sponsor this event. As a Channel Island firm of actuaries and consultants it is great to see that the local pool of talented mathematicians remains high.

BWCI will be continuing to support the team by assisting with the cost of the team's travel to the finals in London in 2014.  Where we hope they will enjoy meeting some of the very best young mathematicians from across the UK.
