The countdown to the 24th edition of the combined clubs' Jersey Regatta, being held over 2nd to 4th September, is rapidly drawing to a close!

With the entry cut-off date extended to Wednesday 31st August everything is now in place for what is expected to be another spectacular extravaganza for the sailing community as a whole, not least for those boats joining from outside the Island.

With over eighty boats expected to race over the three days, there will be stiff competition across the board combined with a lively social programme designed to allow competitors to unwind and enjoy the social activities that follow each day’s exertions afloat.

The event opens with the traditional Commodore’s welcome in St Helier Yacht Club this Thursday evening whilst racing gets under way on Friday morning with a coastal race for the cruiser classes. The dayboat, dinghy, sport catamaran and windsurfer classes programme opens with racing in St Aubin’s Bay later that afternoon. Saturday and Sunday see all classes racing ‘round the cans’ either in St Aubin’s Bay or, in the case of the cruiser classes, to the south of the Bay. There’s a treat in store for spectators as they witness this great annual display of sail.

Now in its ninth year, the British IRC Channel Islands Championship will, again, run within the Regatta programme. Last year’s winner, Guernsey’s Alistair Bisson’s Sunfast 3600, Killing Time will be racing to defend her 2021 victory. Stiff competition is guaranteed!

This year sees offshore law firm Carey Olsen enthusiastically in the sponsor’s chair for the third year running and Ports of Jersey continuing the company’s long-standing support by providing complementary berthing for competitors through Jersey Marinas.

Any remaining boats wishing to enter this flagship event should go to www.jerseyregatta.com for on-line registration.
