The Channel Islands Co-operative Society Limited is celebrating this festive season with a host of events and sponsorships to support local charities.
The Co-op will be sponsoring the prizes for Headway Jersey’s Trolley Dash, which takes place at the Grand Marché store in St. Helier on Saturday 1stDecember at 7:15am.
To spread the Christmas spirit, choirs from local primary schools will treat shoppers at the Locale Charing Cross store by singing Christmas carols during December. All donations will go towards the school’s chosen charity.
On Tuesday 4thDecember, the Co-op will be supporting Jersey Shelter Trust’s soup kitchen, which raises money for homeless Islanders. The Society will be providing bread for the event and Co-op colleagues will also be volunteering on the day.
During the festive season wooden food donation boxes, which were crafted by inmates from La Moye prison during their wood shop classes, will be on display in stores. The boxes, which the Society plans to make a permanent fixture in stores, will be in place from 1stDecember. The food donations will go to The Women’s Refuge in December and then the Jersey Shelter Trust during 2019.
Bryce Alford, Events and Fundraising Manager from Headway Jersey, said: ‘Headway Jersey relies heavily on the generous donations and legacies left by the Jersey public to help Islanders who are recovering from a brain injury. It is only through this financial support that we can continue to provide the highest levels of care for Islanders. We’re very grateful to be one of the Co-op’s chosen charities this Christmas and appreciate its support in providing prizes and hosting the Trolley Dash.’

The Co-op has chosen to partner with charities such as Jersey Shelter Trust and Headway Jersey because we value the great work they do for vulnerable Islanders. We hope the variety of in-store events and fundraising initiatives will make this Christmas an enjoyable and festive experience for our customers and members.’
