Jersey based charities have one week left to apply for a share of £30,000 from the Barclays 2013 Community Awards.

Jersey based charities have one week left to apply for a share of £30,000 from the Barclays 2013 Community Awards.

This year’s Community Awards will concentrate on three key objectives – supporting and improving financial, enterprise and employability skills in 10-35 year olds in the local community. These key objectives align with Barclays’ global commitment to support young people through its new community initiative ‘5 Million Young futures’.

The Barclays Community Awards are open to registered charities based in Jersey. Only projects that benefit the local community will be considered by the judging panel which includes community representatives from Barclays, Channel 103FM radio presenter Spencer Davies and celebrity chef Shaun Rankin.

“Developing the skills young people need to fulfill their potential and improve their job prospects is extremely important especially during difficult economic times,” said Paul Declat, Jersey Director for Barclays Wealth and Investment Management and judge for the awards.

“We’re hoping to receive applications from community organisations that are planning projects or that want to expand on an initiative that helps young people to succeed in the future.”

Entry forms are available to collect from the Barclays branch at Library Place, Barclays’ offices on Broad Street and the Esplanade or by email from adele.langlois@barclays.com. The deadline for entries Friday 15th November.

The Community Awards will be presented to the chosen charities at an evening reception in December.
