The Environment Department is advising motorists that the Disc parking restrictions on the Victoria (Crown) Pier will be changing from next Saturday 23rd November until the end of December. The time limit will be increasing from 2-hour to a 3-hour duration to enable visitors to Town to have extra time for shopping or socialising. The changes do not apply to the small car parking spaces on the arm of the Pier and these will remain as 10-hour parking.

A spokesman for the Department advised “The temporary additional parking time is being introduced following a request from the Town Centre Partnership to encourage footfall in town in the run up to Christmas. The temporary rezoning of the parking spaces is similar to changes made last Christmas and also around the time of the Town Carnival. On this occasion, the Department has sought to simplify things by only altering the time restrictions at this one location.

The spokesman went on to say “The Department would welcome feedback from businesses and shoppers alike to help determine whether the temporary additional hour is popular and should be continued in the run up to Christmas in future.”
