The Citizens Advice Jersey office at St Paul’s Gate will re-open for face-to-face appointments on Tuesday 2nd May after extensive refurbishment work has been carried out. The office had been closed to walk-in visitors to allow the charity to develop new and improved facilities and now includes 6 private meeting rooms and a newly adapted reception and waiting area. It also includes a totally reconfigured, expanded workspace which gives a bright, comfortable, spacious and light working environment for the staff and volunteers who operate the service and they are delighted with the improvements.
CAJ’s Chief Executive Officer, Claire Mulcahy stated“We are eager to show islanders the new Citizens Advice Jersey office and want everyone to know we are back open in our normal well-known location at St Paul’s Centre, New Street, St Helier".
The meeting rooms and main corridor are decorated with artwork created by local schoolchildren. A feature of the new central work area is a colourfulword wall featuring key words that represent the charity and the support it provides to islanders. The words have been selected by service users, volunteers and staff.
During the renovation work, the advice service was fully maintained by the staff, who answered emails and phone calls from offices generously provided by Ashburton and held face to face meetings with clients at Santander’s community workspace.
The renovation was carried out for CAJ by The Foundations Team through the Back to Work scheme and a number of local contractors were involved in the work (full list below), including Jersey Electricity who sponsored new heaters and Romerils who provided a TV for the new reception and waiting area. CAJ gives particular thanks to SystemLabs for supporting all the IT needs in the temporary office space and installing the new fit for purpose IT system. CAJ also extend their thanks to St. Paul’s Centrefor their support during the refurbishment and look forward to their continued collaborative relationship inthe future. The refurbishment project was only possible with the support of all these organisations and CAJ extends its gratitude to them all.
